Those who track Internet statistics, like Netcraft, are reporting today that the Internet has reached 100 million websites. Read CNN’s coverage of the 100 million website milestone here.
That’s a lot of websites.
How did the Internet reach such an august number? Well, apparently 24.7 million new sites were added this year. The year before that, 17 million new sites were added.
The numbers get more interesting. On May 24th, a Netcraft survey listed 50 million sites created. That means that the internet, in terms of number of sites, has doubled in a little over 2 years. That’s amazing.
