And the Youiee Tubee goes to…

YouTube, the incredibly popular video sharing website owned by Google, fawned over by millions, facing massive lawsuits for copyright infringement, has created the most perfect advertising vehicle to spawn even more, possibly much better, user-generated content.

They did it by creating an YouTube awards ceremony.

I haven’t had time to watch any of the ones under consideration, but pasted at the bottom is a feed of my own personal favorite.

The lessons for today are:

  1. Contests are a great way to attract attention to your brand. So much more so if you can encourage participation by your audience. Extra credit for doing it in the Web 2.0 manner and have them create your content!
  2. Your brand can get great coverage with viral marketing. Think of the exposure Reebok has with the clip below. What could you submit?
  3. Below is a man who clearly loves his work! If you love your job, you will never work another day in your life.
