Week in Web Design Black Friday 2009 edition

Happy Thanksgiving weekend, all. Here are links to some articles I’ve enjoyed this weekend.

Will Customer Opinion Overtake Search? Great short article by Duct Tape Marketing musing over Google’s latest changes to their search formats incorporating more and more social networks. Will optimizing Twitter, FaceBook, etc be the new SEO?

The new Black Friday. Google Blog shows off their trending applications and reviews how important the Friday after Thanksgiving is to retailers.

This Problogger article is a good follow up as Darren stresses that bloggers really need to be taking advantage of all of the Black Friday sales – especially as an Amazon Affiliate on Black Friday. For extra, extra credit, check out his article on 3 ways to make more money with Amazon this Christmas.

The Wall Street Journal got in the act with an article that even the big retailers pitch Black Friday this year. Interesting for a comprehensive view of this evolving marketing strategy.

For you shoppers out there, Dumb Little Man has a Black Friday Survival Guide.

For an opposing view of the rampant consumerism that is Black Friday, check out this 2006 post from Get Rich Slowly. Good insight on why Buy Nothing Day is taking off. JD, I tend to agree with the latter camp, too. For everyone else, me finding this article is a good example of why you need to 1) establish an extensive article repository and 2) you should link back to your previous work often.

Enjoy your weekend!
